Project Description
The phased £33m redevelopment included demolition and removal of the existing quay structure back to the line of a new quay wall and improving berthing facilities.
- Civil engineering works included:
- 600m of new sheet piled quay wall
- A mixture of bored, tubular and vertical and raking ‘H’ piles
- Ground anchors
- A new concrete structure, including relieving platform and counterforts
- All associated temporary works
- Service diversions
- Dredging
Miller scope included:
- Filling Maitland’s Quay: 300,000 m3 rockfill
- Demolishing the existing structure’s suspended decks
- Breaking out concrete slabs
- Supplying type 1 sub base for new concrete slabs from Findon quarry
- Contract crushing
