Project Description

The phased £33m redevelopment included demolition and removal of the existing quay structure back to the line of a new quay wall and improving berthing facilities.

  • Civil engineering works included:
  • 600m of new sheet piled quay wall
  • A mixture of bored, tubular and vertical and raking ‘H’ piles
  • Ground anchors
  • A new concrete structure, including relieving platform and counterforts
  • All associated temporary works
  • Service diversions
  • Dredging

Miller scope included:

  • Filling Maitland’s Quay: 300,000 m3 rockfill
  • Demolishing the existing structure’s suspended decks
  • Breaking out concrete slabs
  • Supplying type 1 sub base for new concrete slabs from Findon quarry
  • Contract crushing
